3 words that SHIFT perception

Updated: Jul 6, 2021

All of life is filtered through our thoughts and perceptions.

What we say to ourselves about anything absolutely affects how we feel about it.

I learned these 3 little words many years ago and, truth be told, I do forget to use them sometimes but boy, when I do use them, they are transformative.

At times when I'm staring at the pile of paperwork, I need to do, or dishes stacked in the sink, or the laundry that needs to be folded, or the thought that I have to get my butt to the gym or any other situation where I find myself thinking... "Darn, I have to...." in a begrudging sort of way, in that moment 3 small words can shift me and catapult me into massive action.

Right then, I am reminded that I don't really NEED to do any of them... not really, the TRUTH is that I GET TO! They are a privilege and a choice.

There are many (and I mean MANY) who do NOT have this privileged choice; let THAT realization put things in perspective!

Those 3 words, I GET TO, shift my very perception from one of dread to one of appreciation, gratitude and momentum.

Truth be told, for any situation my mind is begrudging, there is someone else, somewhere on the planet that would give ANYTHING to be able to do it. They would see it as such a huge opportunity and gift.

To a person who has no money, home or work, staring at a pile of paperwork they need to do for themselves demonstrates that they have momentum in their lives and business that warrants the paper trails checks and balances.

To the person who has no dishes and eats their dismal meal from a wooden cup or a folded leaf, the thought of a sink full of dishes would be a dream come true.

To the person with only the clothes on their backs, the thought of a laundry basket filled with clothes to be folded would seem an impossible dream.

To the wheelchair-relegated person, the thought of being able to go to a gym is a longing that brings them to tears.

We are blessed beyond measure, even in the tasks required of us. They represent the riches of our lives and the activities that support and are part of those blessings.

These simple, yet powerful little words can be applied to ANYTHING in your life.

Hold in your awareness how very BLESSED you are that you get to do THESE things and what that really means.

When I do that, anything I'm putting off, procrastinating about, begrudging or feeling burdened by or victim to, immediately changes meaning for me.

Because I now see it as a blessing and privilege, I take it on with passion and my momentum soars. And as I accomplish that task at hand I am reminded that all of life is about perspective and that, in any moment you can change yours to empower you and move you forward.

You have the power to CHOOSE, in every situation, how you will move forward. You can either embrace life as an opportunity and blessing or piss and moan about the details requiring your time and attention.

Either way, it truly is a CHOICE.

Burdened or Blessed - which will you choose to hold on to?

Love and blessings,

P.S. Are you ready to create the mindset that empowers your life? If you could do that on your own, don't you think you would have done it by now? I've set aside a few slots in the next few weeks to talk to you. If you would like to explore what true empowerment could look like in your life. If you want to book one of the few slots I've made available just click HERE. We will explore your life from the place of what you GET To choose.

In my 35 years in this industry, I have learned change does not happen by wanting it alone. If you want different outcomes, you must learn new things. Your future is a CHOICE.
