Ever find yourself staring at the dishes, the laundry, the endless to-dos, and thinking “Ugh, I have to do this”?
It’s so easy to get caught in that loop… that mental place where everything feels like a chore, a demand, a burden. Even the things that reflect our deepest blessings can feel like just one more thing on the list.
But what if you could shift all of that with just three words? Because what we say to ourselves about ANYTHING absolutely affects how we FEEL about it.
I Get To.
These three words have completely transformed how I move through life. They’re simple, but don’t underestimate their power. These three small words can shift me and catapult me into massive action.
I first heard them years ago. And while I sometimes forget (as we all do), when I do remember them… they are magic;
So, instead of thinking or saying:
“I have to do all this paperwork…”
“I have to go to the gym…”
“I have to fold all this laundry…”
“I have to clean up the kitchen…”
I pause and reframe my thoughts to:
“I GET to.”
The Power of Perspective
“I get to” is a doorway to a state change; it shifts me into massive action because it moves me from thoughts and feelings of pressure to ones of recognizing my privileges.
Because the truth is, I don’t have to do any of these things. Not really.
The more profound truth is: millions of people would give anything to do the very things I’m begrudging.
To someone with no job or income, a pile of paperwork is evidence of purpose and progress.
To someone eating from a folded leaf, a sink full of dishes is a dream of abundance.
To someone with no change of clothes, folding laundry would be a luxury.
To someone in a wheelchair, the gym isn’t a task; it’s a dream come true.
We forget how sacred our responsibilities are.
They are reflections of a life that’s working, a life that’s moving, a life we GET to live.
Shift the Lens, Shift Your Life
Every time I remember this shift, it changes everything.
Not only do I stop procrastinating, I actually feel gratitude. Energy. Even joy.
That energy turns into momentum. And that momentum? It carries me into action with love, not resentment.
You don’t have to wait until something is taken away to realize how blessed you are.
You can start now by remembering that life is lived through the lens you choose.
So… what lens will you choose today?
Burdened or Blessed?
Either way, it truly is a CHOICE.
Sending you love and blessings.
