Have you ever had an inspiration that keeps coming back time and time again, even when you dismiss it as just a crazy notion?
Yeah, most of us do.
But what if I told you something that might change how you see those persistent nudges? The word "inspiration" comes from the Latin inspirare, which means "to breathe into" or "to breathe life into." It originally meant divine guidance.
Imagine that! What if it's true that those nudges inspiring you to do something, accomplish something, are actually God nudging you toward the very thing you were created for?
WOW! It's true. The very thing you're inspired to do is uniquely yours, matched to your skills, talents, and natural bent. Ever notice how someone inspired to open a bakery loves everything about baking, while someone inspired to write a book loves expressing ideas through words? The two will never cross paths. That's not a coincidence.
When I Said "NO WAY" to My Own Calling
I know this intimately because I lived it. Twenty-four years ago, I had this persistent inspiration to use my own transformation to guide others as an empowerment coach. My immediate response?
"NO WAY. I don't know how to do that."
But that calling kept coming back. Again and again. Like a gentle but insistent tap on my shoulder that refused to be ignored.
Here's the thing: there's a part of our brain called the superconscious, our connection to the divine. This is where our soul speaks to us. Unfortunately, because our brain is wired for survival more than expansion, we often dismiss these callings as "nice notions" that are not truly achievable.
That's exactly what I was doing. I was letting my survival brain override my soul's calling.
The Moment Everything Changed
But then I did something that changed everything: I said yes. Not because I had it all figured out, I absolutely didn't. I said yes to the inspiration itself, trusting that the HOW would unfold.
And guess what? It did. Once I aligned with that divine nudge, everything began to conspire in my favor. Connections appeared. Opportunities opened. Resources materialized. The path revealed itself one step at a time.
Here's what I've learned in 24 years of guiding others through their own transformations: when we say yes to God's calling, divine providence takes over. Connections align. Circumstances conspire for your success in that very endeavor.
Living by Default vs. Living by Inspiration
But here's what breaks my heart: so many people are living lives of default, not inspiration. They're going through the motions, checking boxes, following someone else's blueprint for success. Meanwhile, their soul is whispering, nudging, trying to guide them toward their true north.
Time is running out for all of us. Not to be dramatic, but to be real, we don't get unlimited chances to answer our calling. At some point, the inspiration might stop coming. The door might close. The opportunity might pass.
How to Recognize Divine Inspiration vs. Fear-Based Thoughts
So how do you know if what you're feeling is divine inspiration or just wishful thinking? Here's what I've discovered:
Divine Inspiration:
Keeps coming back, even when you dismiss it
Feels aligned with your natural talents and interests
Brings a sense of expansion and possibility (even if it's scary)
Comes with a quiet knowing, not frantic urgency
Often involves serving others or creating something meaningful
Fear-Based Thoughts:
Come and go randomly without consistency
Feel forced or like you "should" do something
Create anxiety and contraction in your body
Push you toward what others expect or what looks impressive
Focus primarily on external validation or avoiding discomfort
The 3-Step Process to Act on Your Inspiration
Ready to stop dismissing that persistent calling? Here's how to begin:
Step 1: Listen Without Judgment
For the next week, pay attention to what keeps calling you. Don't analyze it, don't figure out the how, don't judge it as realistic or unrealistic. Just notice what your soul keeps whispering about.
Journal this: "The inspiration that keeps coming back to me is..."
Step 2: Look for the Pattern
Notice how your natural gifts, life experiences, and passions connect to this inspiration. There's always a thread. Someone inspired to teach usually loves learning and sharing knowledge. Someone called to heal others often has their own healing journey. Someone drawn to create art has always seen beauty differently.
Ask yourself: "How do my unique experiences and gifts align with this calling?"
Step 3: Take One Small Step
You don't need to see the whole staircase to take the first step. What's one tiny action you could take this week that moves you toward that inspiration? Research something. Have a conversation. Try something new. Buy a domain name. Write one page. Make one call.
The key is movement. God can steer a moving ship much more easily than a parked car.
Your North Star Is Waiting
I'm here to tell you: the very thing that inspires you is the very reason you're here. It's your North Star. That persistent nudge isn't random, it's divine guidance trying to lead you toward your purpose.
What would happen if you actually moved toward that inspiration instead of dismissing it?
What if, instead of living by default, you chose to live by inspiration?
What if you trusted that the same divine force that put this calling in your heart also equipped you with everything needed to fulfill it?
The Time Is Now
Twenty-four years ago, I was terrified to step into my calling. I had no credentials, no clear plan, no guaranteed success. But I had something more important; I had divine inspiration that wouldn't leave me alone.
I've become known as a master of transcendence and a queen of hearts, not because I had it all figured out, but because I said yes to what kept calling me.
Your inspiration is your invitation. It's God breathing life into your purpose. It's your soul showing you the way.
So imagine that, next time you're about to dismiss that persistent notion... that's divine calling, nudging you forward.
What's yours telling you today?
And more importantly, when will you finally say yes?
If you're ready to stop living by default and align with your true purpose, but you're not sure what that inspiration is really calling you toward, I'm here to help. Sometimes we need someone to help us see what we can't see ourselves, to help us distinguish between our fears and our calling, between what we think we should do and what we're truly meant to do.
